IS MK party an ANC strategy to win citizens who have been disgruntled by the party?
When Zuma became president of the ANC voted at ANC conference in Polokwane 2007, a genesis of division within the ANC came to birth and this was mainly created by the different philosophies on how to best run the country, Zuma represented the RET( Redical Economic Transformation) mainly believing in Socialist/ communist ideology, having a belief that means of production; banks, mines and land must be owned by the state. This ideological path created what would be known as the fast deteriorating image of the party even though it gave them an opportunity to attract a huge win of over 50% for the first time in KZN, It also was a deteriorating point for them in Western Cape, losing it for the 1st time to the DA in 2009 national elections.
Even though RET represented the socialist/Communist ideology, the fundamental aspect of it attracted members within the ANC whom when BEE was implemented and the likes of the current president 'Cyril Ramaphosa' and many others were lured by the private sector to seat in corporate boards to be black faces of BEE and creating vast wealth in the process, the RET group were left outside of these benefits and looked to the state to benefit instead. Zuma was the messiah who opened wealth creation path for them and this would be deemed as 9 wasted years as many members of this RET group would find opportunity to create their own wealth using the state as primary giver by occupying strategic positions within state owned entities, govenment departments and using friends and families to benefit through doing business with these SOEs and government departments.
The New Dawn has been another faction of the ANC led by former President Thabo Mbeki and now Cyril Ramaphosa, this group has mainly consisted of BEE beneficiaries whom many of them are regarded as black excellence of this country through their share ownership and seating in many multi billion rand Corporate companies, their fundamental ideology is believing that fair involvment of the private sector within the state is beneficial for the country, they are the advocates of some capitalism while carrying with them their partly socialist ideology which are important to the survival of the ANC like the implementation of social grants; children grant, unemployment grant and now NHI( National health Insurance) etc to maintain a status quo while ensuring a revolution is not being born because of the social inequality that exists in the country.
These two factions have drastically hammered the development of South Africa and one of the infightings which have had a detrimental effect to South AFrca is Eskom; which has been the sole supplier of energy in the country since 1923. One group has kept a belief in Eskom continuing being the monopoly and using coal as the major supplier of creating energy and adding nuclear energy in the process, while the other group believes in participation of private energy generation companies( which they indrectly benfit from) through renewables. this infighting has caused billions of rands to the country, increased unemployment and has been felt by every citizen who have been nothing but fed up by the governing party.
The formation of MK led by former president Zuma has attracted many RET members from within the ANC who have been cursed out of benefiting in SOEs and government departments when Cyril Ramaphosa became president of the party, while Zuma has maintained that he is still a member of the ANC but however does not resonate with the current ANC leaders and their ideology. this has left me thinking of wether this is an ANC strategy to lure ANC voters to MK who are not happy with the ANC but still adore Zuma thereofre for ANC to still maintain control of the country after 29 May elections through having MK and EFF( another ANC breakway, consisting of youth driven by RET) party as coalition partners. Wether this is a true conspiracy or not but what we all know is that MK May be a decider of who leads KZN after the national elections as the EFF continues to decline in KZN and this may be however the checkmate Zuma is waiting for to still have control and voice within the ANC as it is ineviatable that it was Zuma who ensured ANC wins KZN which has the 2nd largest voters in the country after Gauteng.
